“The Three Stooges II”
“The Three Stooges II” is a new slot game located at RTG Casinos. For the purpose of this review, the game was played at Inetbet Casino.
The Three Stooges became popular in the United States in the early 20th century for the “slapstick humor” of their vaudeville comedy act and short films. “The Three Stooges II” slot game was introduced in early 2012, and offers fun graphics and even some short video clips of the “Three Stooges: Larry, Curly and Moe.” “The Three Stooges II” seems to be a cross between classic three line slots and the newer and ever popular video slots.
The game has 3 fixed payout lines, and bets can be placed from .30 cents to $3.00. The game features various old Hollywood movie studio symbols of the rich and famous, like fancy cars, and a wild symbol of “The Three Stooges.” This symbol acts as a multiplier. For instance, two matching symbols and one wild symbol will multiply winnings by 3X. One symbol with two wilds will multiply winnings by 9X. As you can see from the screenshot, two blue cars with one wild symbol paid out a $90.00 win on a three dollar bet. Two wilds would have resulted in a $270.00 win, which is not too shabby at all!
During this game jackpot is triggered with three wild symbols, and it seems that it must trigger often, because the jackpot for this game is rarely over $1,000, and usually it's just a few hundred dollars.
Bonus Rounds:
Free spins are triggered whenever three of the same Stooge symbol appear on the same payline. During free spins, one additional free spin is awarded whenever any combination of three stooges appears on a single payline.
The most common bonus to hit is the “Curly Cashola” feature, which offers nine free spins at a 2X multiplier.
In addition, three Larry's will result in the “Larry's Stash” feature, where the roll of a single die decides whether free spins will be 7 at 2X multiplier, all the way up to a possible 20 at 7X multiplier. Several times, I have had this feature trigger, and won 12 free spins on 5X, but I did not win anything at all during the free spins.
The hardest feature to trigger is the “Moe's Moolah” feature, which also is decided upon the roll of a die. Players can receive as few as 10 free games at a 3X multiplier, all the way up to 100 free spins at a 10X multiplier. On one occassion, while playing on .30 cents, I actually won several hundred dollars during this feature, because I received 75 free spins at 8X multiplier. That was fun, and I've been trying to recreate the moment ever since!
“The Three Stooges” has RTG's usual audio, which I like to mute entirely on all games. The graphics, however, are nicely done, but I am way to impatient to be forced to watch a movie clip every time a bonus round is triggered. I find the mandatory movies to be highly annoying, and completely unnecessary, but this is just my opinion.
System and Final Thoughts on Three Stooges II:
Although I do not claim to have a system for playing “The Three Stooges II,” in my experience, the bonus round is hit often, but with little success. I have had much bigger wins from single spins with the multiplying wild than I have ever received from any of the free spin features. In fact, the free spins seem to be disappointing because you see how good it could be to get 100 free spins at a 10X multiplier (Moe's Moolah feature), and often end up with under ten spins that pay nothing at all . . . it's true, the free-spins on this game can be pathetically small, and the win-win feature is usually disappointing as well. However, I enjoy the game because those high payout spins do occur just often enough to keep me going, and once in awhile result in a largely increased bankroll that keeps me playing for longer. For me, it's all about the playtime. I feel cheated when I don't get enough playtime for even a small deposit.
