“Triton's Treasure”
Triton's Treasure is a slot game located at RTG Casinos. For the purpose of this review, the game was played at Everygame Red Casino. Triton's Treasure rolled out early in 2011, so although it is not a new slot, it is definitely worth a try. The game has 25 payout lines, and bets can be placed from .25 cents to $125.00. The game features mermaids, which are also the scatter symbol as well as the bonus round trigger. Also featured are ship-wrecks, underwater artifacts and treasures, and, of course, Triton, an expanding wild symbol, and the guy you hope to see every time you spin the reels.
Interesting Facts about Triton:
According to research, Triton is a mythological Greek god, the messenger of the big sea. He is the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, god and goddess of the sea respectively, and is herald for his father. He is usually represented as a merman, having the upper body of a human and the tail of a fish, "sea-hued", according to Ovid[1] 'his shoulders barnacled with sea-shells'.”
This is a close interpretation of how Triton is portrayed in “Triton's Treasure, but not exact.” Like his father, Poseidon, Triton carries a trident. However, Triton's special attribute is a twisted conch shell, “on which he blew like a trumpet to calm or raise the waves. Its sound was so terrible, that when loudly blown, it put the giants to flight, who imagined it to be the roar of a dark wild beast.[2]” The symbolic conch shell can be seen when Triton appears on the reels of the game, but at his feet instead of held in one hand.
Bonus Round:
Triton's Treasure has a jackpot of 3,333 coins, and a bonus round that features King Triton, an expanding wild that occurs on reels 2, 3 and 4. The bonus round is triggered when the mermaid symbol, the scatter, appears anywhere 3 or more times. The player wins 5 spins at 1x bet, and is given the choice of five additional spins or an additional 1x multiplier. It's a little confusing, but basically the player can choose 5 spins at as much as 6x the bet, as many spins as 15 at 1X bet, or somewhere in between. I usually go for 10 free spins at 3x bet, thinking that it's safer to stay in the middle. I'm usually on a quarter bet, so we are not talking about big money on the line.
The feature can be retriggered, and an additional bonus feature of spins or another multiplier is offered to the player, which is nice, and can add another 2x to your multiplier, so if you were a player who chose the 15 free spins on 1x multiplier, you could end up with 15 or more spins with a 3x multiplier, which would be nice indeed.
Triton's Treasure has RTG's usual audio, which I like to mute entirely on all games. The graphics, however, are nicely done, and are realistic and attractive images that are reminscent of an undersea adventure.
System and Final Thoughts on Triton's Treasure:
My system for playing Triton's Treasure is to stay on a quarter bet, because I tend to hit the bonus round more often and this increases my playtime greatly. On higher bets, I don't seem to catch the bonus round or have spins that are quite as lucky as they are on the smaller bet. I have frequently won more than $5.00 on a single spin, and have won as much as $32.00 during the bonus round with a quarter bet. In my opinion, this is a better payout than I've received from most slots, although I have also certainly done better, particularly on Count Spectacular, Glitz & Glamour and Loose Caboose, just to name a few.
