Review of Moonshine Microgaming
My Review of
MOONSHINE
by gjr1961
~Moonshine is a fun, entertaining, and possibly profitable slot game. It has 25 lines, 5 reels, and offers up a wild, scatter, and a free spin bonus. A bet can be as low as .01 cent to as high as $125 per spin. The coins range from a penny to $1 and up to 5 coins per line can be played per spin. The maximum jackpot is $40,000 (8000 coind x 5). If hit during the bonus feature, it can go as high as $160,000 (at 4x multiplier)
~Released in March of 2006, it was added to the already extensive list of Migrogaming games. It is available on the download and flash versions of the casinos. It is also available in the existing player USA version as well, at those casinos that offer such.
~The theme of the slot is based on hillbilllies who are cooking homemade liquor (Moonshine).Since it is illegal, it is made at night so that law enforcement is unable to see the smoke rising in the air.
~The graphics are not too complex, however, they they are humourous, colorful, cartoon type drawings that are easy on the eyes. The images found are: 4 hillbillies, their (pet?) huge purple/pink pig, a police officer a liquor jug, and some items that would probably be found cooking on the stove.
~The wild symbol is the Granny in her rocking chair, shotgun in hand. This will substitute everything except for the scatter and bonus symbols. The scatter is a police officer which will pay out when at least 3 of them are showing in any position on the reels. The bonus round is unique and is triggered when 3 liquor jugs are visible on any line or reel.
~When the bonus round is triggered, automatically won is a base amount of spins with a 1x multiplier. The number of spins given coincide with the number of jugs showing; 3 spins for 3 jugs, 4 spins for 4, and 5 spins for 5. On the bonus screen, there is 18 blank squares. The message underneath will be either: +1 bonus spin, +1 multiplayer, or start free spins. Squares are picked one by one. when the "start free spins" is found, the picking is done and the free spins begin. Some of the symbols will have a different appearence. The hillbillies and the pig are obviously drunk and the police officer is tied up (it is still a scatter symbol). The maximum bonus would be 18 spins at 4x multiplayer. The bonus cannot be retriggered.
~I have played Moonshine frequently and found good luck on several occasions. I like the way the symbols appear. I also enjoy that there is a bit of challenge and surprise in the bonus round. I generally start low (.50 to .75 per spin), if I don't hit anything for up to about 30 spins, I move to a different game. If I do find some luck, I will raise the bet in accordance with my balance of funds. After $35 I go to .75, after about $75 I will raise it to $1 a spin, and so on. I stay pretty conservative because although I might have a good feeling that I'll win, if I don't hit anything my balance can shrink quickly. I only occasionally click on the "bet max". It may be superstition, but I find that I have a better chance of winning that way. If I want to play with a higher amount, I raise the value of the coin.
~Recently, I was playing at Casino Share and betting .01 coins x4; $1.00 a spin. I hit the bonus round and was a little disappointed when I received only 7 spins with a 2x multiplayer. I didn't get any thing at first but my mood quickly changed as I watch 5 of the wild symbol line up on the middle line. The total of the bonus round was $669.00. (see screenshot below) That is the most that I have ever won on this game.
