You laugh when I tell you what I started out looking at, and what I ended up at that prompted that ad to come up.
I saw an ad that Styx was appearing Feb 14th at the House Of Blues. I went to the Styx website to check out their concert tour dates and locations.
One location was in French Lick, Indiana (and yes I not making it up). What was strange about French Lick (even though it only has 1900 people, but have a huge casino), but in researching my family tree a couple of months ago my Grandmother and Grandfather on my fathers side were born in French Lick, Indiana according to the 1900 US Census.
I know you are probably wondering how tornadoes and twisters came into the picture.
There was a big discrepancy from the 1900 and 1910 US Census as shown below.
1900
Andrew Compton (50) Head of Household
Hannah Compton (52) Wife
William Compton (23) Son
Julia Compton (21) Daughter
John Compton (1 Son
Milton Compton (16) Son
Ella Compton (13) Daugher
Elmer Compton (13) Son
1910
John Compton (2 Head of Household
Julia Compton (31) Sister (Widowed)
Ella Compton (23) Daughter
Elmer Compton (23) Brother
Clifton Compton (9) Nephew
Grandmother indicated in red.
As you can see, Mother, Father, Milton, Willian are not listed, and my grandmother is now listed as daughter to John (head of household) which in 1900 she was listed as sister.
Isn't that something to put on your annual christmas card. So I was wondering what happened in those 10 years to have so many family members gone. Did they get a disease, or was killed by some major event. In Indiana and Illinois when major events kill a lot of people are tornadoes and twisters. So while I was on the Indiana forum, I search for tornado and twister events around that time period.
So the next time that I did a search, Up pop one of Googles sponsor ads that said shop and compare prices (tornadoes and twisters) and shopping.com.
I told you it was bizare.
It's so eerie how all of this tied in together. Checking concert dates for Styx, who is performing at a big casino resort in French Lick, In, which is the home town of my grandmother's family.
