PostPosted: Thu May 05, 2005 2:16 pm    AWWWWWW Spring Time Contest - CLOSED WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Reply with quote Back to top

Aww its Spring Time in the Rockies here, I love spring time. I love to see the snow melt, grass turn green, trees in blossom and ohhhhh those beautiful spring flowers.

Time to put the flannel in the back of the closet and bring out the speedos and tube tops lmaooo NOT!!! Its also time to see the weeds start popping up. Grrrrr for some reason they seem to try and overtake the beauty of spring time. All of a sudden, that green lawn now has yellow flowers in it. The rose bush that you are trying to train to grow up a trellus has now a vine that has started from scratch and overpowerd the poor rosebush, in about a weeks time. lol How do they grow so fast?

We pick them, we dig them, we chop them we poison them, to no avail. Yes the mighty weeds. Do you have a particular one that you really dislike? One that you have fought and fought through the years, thinking in the fall you've finally won the battle, to find in the spring it raising its ugly head to challenge you again? lol

Crushers, this contest is simple, got any favorite weeds you love to hate? lol Any tales of woe of how you fought the battle and thought you won to find that you only helped them multiply? lol Any weed that should replace the state flower because of its bounty. lol

How about any success stories of how you fought the battle and won? Any help for us that have brown thumbs except when it comes to growing weeds? or other then salt, how about how you get rid of those slimmey snails, ughhh. lol Any gardening tips, do's and don't's? Any words of wisdom? No right or wrong answers here, anyone that enters this contest and places a casino banner in their post will be placed in a random drawing.

PRIZES

There will be 2 prizes of $25.

RULES

1) You must include a banner from the CC database in your post.
2) You must have a certified NeTeller account in order to receive payment.
3) You will need to have 2500 CC points in order to claim a cash prize. If the selected winner does not have the required CC points then 2500 CC points will be awarded in lieu of cash.
4) This contest closes on May 24th. Winners account will be credited within 10 days.

Good Luck Crushers!

Happy Gaming Always!

liquid plumber, raid and anything else I thought might get rid of them,

well liquid plumber killed some grass but those darn dandy lions are still

Nettles!

The scourge of the countryside and garden alike.

How they manage to survive growing just about anywhere such as through cracks in the concrete is beyond me.

As for snails... alcohol works quite well, just place some in a glass, and they get drunk - fall in - and drown! A bit gruesome, but quite a good way to go I would think Smile

ok..I LOVE to garden and I am pretty good at it..SO...those snails you were talking about..ready???? put a bowl of beer in your yard!! Yep..they are drawn to it and will climb in the bowl and drown..yes you will have a bowl full of dead snails but if you use a plastic bowl you can just discard it. Another good tip for growing...put baby powder in when you plant any kind of flower bulb...it keeps the squirrels and moles away from them Smile

All weeds in the lawn annoy me. Here is a recipe for a lawn so healthy it kills weeds for you! As for the snails, put out deep bowls or jars of beer! They love it and drink themselves to drowning.

The "Lawn Tonic"

-One full can of regular pop (any kind-no diet soda)

-One full can of beer (no light beer)

-1/2 Cup of Liquid dishwashing soap (do NOT use anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid)

-1/2 Cup of household ammonia

-1/2 Cup of mouthwash (any brand)

-Pour into 10-gallon hose-end sprayer (other sizes will work too)

-In high heat, apply every three weeks

The liquid soap is a wetting agent, helping the formula penetrate to the roots. The ammonia promotes growth and turns your lawn green, and the mouthwash does something you would never suspect mouthwash would do. It kills the bugs and grubs. NOTE: Do NOT use anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid in the mixture as it will kill off important microbes in the lawn and soil that help "digest" thatch.

"It essentially messes-up their re-productive cycles and keeps them out of your lawn and makes it look a lot better and leaves it minty fresh," laughs Heffron. And because it's applied with the hose sprayer, it's a direct shot to your sod. "When you don't have a lot of water and we're on watering restrictions, this is another way to get the nutrients to your lawn and keep it growing."

BURDOCKS + (1) Lhasa Apso + (1) Shitzu = an added $78 trip to the groomer to get them out of their hair.

Don't know the trick for getting rid of the burdocks but would be willing to invest $78 one time to save me those trips to Petsmart grooming shop. Not sure why they choose to piddle in a burdock bush when their are plenty of wonderful trees and fire hydrants that they could saddle up beside.

Ohhhhh Laughing I bet you would invest $78 to get a remedy for burdocks tunisianswife! I feel your pain Laughing I used to have a maltese that, without taking her out personally, would always end up going where she shouldn't and I've paid a few groomerys a pretty penny to take care of her little mishaps. hehee, good luck!

We don't have much of a dandelion problem but we do have a lot of clover and some moss. Don't know how to get rid of either of them.
The weed I hate the most is the one that likes to grow in the grass with those sharp little prickly things in them that HURT when you step on them with your bare feet.
