12 Days Of Christmas Contest Contest Closed Winner Announced

My best Christmas ever was the year my faith in Santa Clause was restored... I was 8 years old and at an age when kids begin to wonder if the jolly ole gent is for real or not.
My Mom was terminally ill and bedridden and my brother was on leave from the Navy but had to leave to go back to his base late Christmas Eve. My Dad sent a telegram to Santa explaining this and asked him if he could possibly come early to our house. I thought... "yeah right, one of Dad's friends will show up in Santa costume" but this is what actually happened:

All of us except were at the supper table and Mom rang her little bell indicating that she wanted something. Dad asked me to go see what she wanted. As I walked past the Christmas tree my eyes were drawn to the presents underneath, wondering what goodies were there. I went into Mom's room to see what she wanted which was a fresh glass of water. I headed back to the kitchen for it and again glanced at all the presnets........ BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE THERE! I got Mom's water and came back with it and EVEN MORE PACKAGES! Mom is in bed and unable to get up alone....everyone else is at the supper table eating, so where did these packages come from? On my way back to the kitchen I stopped and looked at the tags on these new gifts and sure enough they were from Santa!
To this day I have no other explanation other than Santa really does exist.

I really feel like I am going to get a visit from the ghost of Christmas past because I cannot think of anything out of the ordinary

I feel a bit like a 'bah-humbug' type of guy as I get more pleasure nowadays from trying to think up and getting presents for others.

I have enjoyed Christmas - especially when I was young but cannot think of anything outof the ordinary.

I do like Nono's tale though...very descriptive.

My best Christmas was the one I nearly forgot lol. 4 years ago when Had just turned 21 I had broken up with someone I cared very deeply about a few months prior and was still nursing my wounds when i moved into a huge house with 5 other people, we were all pretty hard party animals, working at night in a club and spending all our other time at raves and stuff. Well we only got 3 days off for Christmas so on the first morning when we came home from work we started to party a couple of days later we were still partying and someone said what day is it - none of us had any idea it was so funny, when we realised it was christmas day we freaked, we all had to visit family and we looked so trashed. i think my mum nearly died when she saw me until i explained what id been up to, then she understood. Well we all did our christmas visiting and met back at home and slept till we had to go to work then started all over again until newyears (which we had to work for also). It was such a wild couple of weeks and i had heaps of fun (what i can remember anyway) but a month or so after that i had to slow down or burn out so i left my job and moved to quieter pastures. Best christmas i have had, but now my little boy is 2 and i have another one on the way so christmases are going to be even better - I get an excuse to buy more toys than normal yay! then i get the joy of seeing my son enjoy them.

I think I will guess this one will be good. I have been out of work since January and can't pay bills much less afford to buy gifts. So, my good friend Pam needed a ride to Walmart and I took her. Then she tells me that I can spend $150 on gifts for my son. Now I don't have to worry and is he going to be surprised! He thinks he's getting an IOU for Chrtistmas...... My older son is in Texas, but he doesn't mind if I get something small. But the baby is still at home....

I still have a bear and a rocker that I got when I was little ( 3 or 5)
I will say I miss going home for the family meal, I now cook for the family, but it is my husbands and not mine. I do enjoy doing it though. Christmas is for kids and is a very special time.

I can't think of one particular christmas that stood out but I enjoyed quite a few of them from my childhood, mainly because my family had a traditional way of doing them. First we would go to a tree farm and cut down a gorgeous noble or a douglas fur, and decorate it with a mix of homemade ornaments and recently purchased ones.... then anxiously await christmas day...my brother and I would get up at the crack of dawn and wake up my groggy mom and dad dragging them out of bed but my mom insisted we couldn't open any presents until she had a camera ready. Everybody would be opening their presents and my mom always wanted to return hers and get something else.. .I remember this happening frequently over the years!.After opening all the presents we would all go to my father's cousins house where a bunch us relatives would eat a traditional christmas dinner and enage in chi-chat, play poker (I guess that's where my gambling obession came from ?!?!) and trivial pursuit. After dinner we would all participate in the yearly grab-bag,..the grab-bag would be a mix of treasures and unwanted items like the loathed can of "rattle snake meat."


Many of these relative have since passed on by I do hold on the memories dearly.
