I Finally Did It!!!!

Hi,


Well I finally called my own bluff I enrolled in College today to become an Addiction & Social Services Worker...

This course is 2yrs crammed into 1 so I'm going to be busy from
July 23/07-May 16/08....

I've always said one day I will go back to School and now that day has come well on July 23rd anyway...

I'm still going to post and be apart of CC...Once a Crusher always a Crusher...but maybe not be in as often as I would like as I must maintain a minimum 70% average to pass...

I have no doubt I can do this and I'm looking forward to the course and working in this field in the future...

So wish me luck God knows at times I'm going to need it or need a little pick me up and I will be counting on my sitemates for a good laugh and stress release...

That's great to hear Sarah, it's a great field to work in. I have many friends that work in Detoxes, Treatment centers, and Half way Houses. to see a person that has lost their spirt and everything, from his family to his job get clean and sober and get that light back in there eyes is such a rewarding thing to see. Wow thanks everyone....I have a lot to learn but life experience has taught me a lot also...

I have found that throughout my life there have been times when I needed an ear or help and it was there for me in the form of some pretty great people, without them goodness knows where I would have been...

So I see it as giving back to the community...Everyone needs a helping hand now and then and I'm not to proud to say that I have been one of them at different times in my life...

Everyone needs a boost of self confidence once in awhile and as my Crushers before me already said... FANTASTIC! It will be a rewarding experience for you and even though your going to try and do 2 years into one which will be hard but you can do it!

It is a very worthwhile profession - helping others who no longer can help themselves.

I have a friend that went to school and is doing the same thing and she loves her work. She was a previous addict herself so she has been there.

Congratulations sisters. Work hard and be the best you can be and you will have a very rewarding career do something that I think is the best for a profession of all.... helping others.

Wow thanks again everyone...

My home is always open to my childrens friends who need a place to stay or a meal...It seems to me that a lot of parents arent taking their responsabilities serious when it comes to raising their kids...a lot of these parents have addictions themselves and find it hard to take parenting seriously or anything for that matter due to their circumstances...

I know I will enjoy this field very much...I'm really looking forward to working with Youths, The Homeless and Battered Women etc...

This field will allow me to branch off into so many directions....I can't wait to start and actually one on my sisters Kim is doing the course also...

2 yrs in 1 is going to be tough but I am determined come hell or high water to this and I have NEVER been so positive or so sure of anything in my life...

The only negative feedback I have had is from my Father who thinks I should be doing something that pays more money and is a little more socially acceptable....

I told him not everything has to do with what income braket your in and I could care less what the "Social" scene has to say about it...My Father and his wife are SNOBS to say the least...

Anyway thanks again for all your support it means a great deal...
