PostPosted: Sun Aug 02, 2009 9:48 am    Realisticly, how much would you need to start/run an online
Reply with quote Back to top

I posted this in another forum and haven't had much response, so i thought i would ask the question here too, i think it would be handy to know these things before you play somewhere so you know what kind of establishment your deciding to deposit at.

Quote:
Ok, as per the title of the post i am wondering how much it costs to start up an online casino, i think many of us assume that because a casinos online, has support staff, a flashy website perhaps that they must have a fair bit of money, i mean their a casino for christs sake so they must do right?

Well no, i don't believe they always do have a lot of money, and i think for my benefit and hopefully other members too i would be keen to know from others if they know what sort of money is required to start and run an online casino please?

My own thoughts are that, the casino software provider would probably set out some criteria that a prospective casino operator would have to have to be able to run a casino using that software providers software.
But other than that i don't really know, i know they would have to pay affiliates in one way or another, and of course certain staff that need to be paid, but how many staff and how much would they need in the bank to cover big winners etc?

Because i have a feeling you don't probably need as much money as most people think, but i really don't know so im all ears.

as with non-government/private land based casinos - i believe it would be more of "who you know" and "how they know you" more so than the amount of money you have.

Thanks for the reply, but im kind of looking for facts here, i have heard that you only need 40k to start up a Rival Casino, but what other things do you need to pay for etc.

If you knew that an online casino that you could be thinking about depositing at, only need 15k to start up, i hope it would change the way you thought about playing there, thats the kind of thing i want to know.

Thanks

But don't you think it would be very useful information to know when making a choice of where to play?

I have a post going over at CasinoMiester and you know how seriously they take their gambling over there, so i hope to get some answers, when i do i will post back here with my findings.

I know there are some casinos that will "Front" you or for a small fee will give you your own web presence if you use their software and cashier. Then they take a percentage of your profits, and losses etc.

I seriously looked into it a couple years back. BUT ... it really depends on the company AND the software. Rival would probably be different than an RTG etc.

The best way to check is to go to a software provider's main site ( one that you like such as Rival) and check into their business options. Some have different packages.

It is all a matter of what software you want to run and what the company requires to go into business with them. Best thing to do is your own legwork on the web by going to the software providers websites. They will have a section for Affiliates and a section of Partners. Read the docs.. see what you like Smile

Well im not looking seriously in to it at all, no way i don't want to do that, never will and never want to, but i was just asking if someone knows.

Now as you appear to know, do you mind sharing what your "legwork" found out?

ROFL well I wish I could tell you more. If you check out the software providers main sites then any casino that runs that software you will know the requirements.

I can't state any one providers business practices as they all vary and some have 3 or 4 different type packages to get you started (you meaning anyone interested in starting a casino or in your case wanting to know about it.)

I just spent a lot of time searching it out.

But if you find out the software providers provisions to run their software then any casino that is run by that software will be the same as another that runs the same software. That is all I can really tell you.

oops one last thing... depends on if they are in a reputable GROUP also.

Your really asking a hard question to answer because your going in reverse from one casino back to the software company rather than starting with the software company and seeing if THEIR practices are above board.

Ok ... think that is it ROFL

well ok one MORE last thing... depends on who they use for support. There are some support companies out there that handle more than one casino or casino group.

So you might talk to support that handles their own casino support or one that handles support for 30 casinos or more.

I rest my case.

No it all starts at the software company, i know that, but starting a Microgaming Casino is going to be way more expensive than lets say a Top Game casino, but each provider will have a criteria that a potential customer (casino operator) will have to have in order to run a casino with that specific casino software providers software.

Its not meant to be a tough question, just one that if someone knows the answers to i would like to know, i think we should all know the answers to.
Lets say a TOP Game casino could be run from the back of someones house and start up for 10k, if i knew that i hope me and everybody else on the planet would never deposit there ever.

Welll that isn't really the issue though if they run it in their house or garage as the software provider provides the web space, the cashier, support and accounting. All the casino "owner" does is collects on the profits after the software provider takes their cut, subtracts losses from the profits the casino operator would get. So basically you don't have any physical ownership of any kind- it is all virtual.

It is up to the casino operator to bring in customers beyond the software providers listing who is running their software.

It is up to the casino operator to get listed on Google, Yahoo etc and bring in people with a website presence for instance. Don't need more than a laptop to run a casino that way.

I am fully aware of exactly what you say, i know how all this works, but im looking for a ball park figure, i can tell that your not going to be able to give me an answer to this question.

Lets make this real simple, if i won 100k would i be able to run a casino then?

YES or NO?

maybe if i had 500k would i be able to run a casino then?

YES or NO?

Maybe if i only had 10K could i operate a casino then?
