I recall as a child that our Indian Summers always started just before Halloween and would last for about 2 weeks. We never had to wear much more than a good sweater under our costumes. Come the second week of November, temps would start to drop quite a bit and the north winds start to blow.
I remember one Halloween when my cousins came for a visit from England. They had never experienced it before and had planned this trip to come specifically then. Of course, we had a major snow storm with the cold and about 4 ft of snow. We had to scramble to find them boots, jackets & such. That was in around 71 or 72. They took so many pics of the snow and the snowbanks, toboggan slides and such. They had never seen so much snow in their lives, but they were happy that they got to experience so much more than just Halloween. We did everything we possibly could to give them so many first experiences. They still talk about it.
