That was allllongggg time ago , we lived on a farm so we never got to play with other kids a lot, so i would love to get back to school to have kids to play with.

The only thing I would say that I liked about the first day of school was finding out who was in my class and to meet my teacher(s).

What I liked best about the first day of school was that it was the one day a year that i got to take my time getting ready cause parents gave me the morning off from chores... and dad always gave us money to buy our lunch on that first day. I grew up poor and most of the time had to depend on the help of others for school clothes and such.
but my parents always let me know they loved us

My favorite thing about the first day of school was knowing that my teacher was going to teach me everything I needed to know about sportsbetting, poker, blackjack, craps, keno, roulette, and last, but not least SLOTS BABY!!!
Ya see, while she thought she was teaching me how to do simple algebra, and long division, she was really laying the foundation down for a solid understanding of house odds and where you can find an edge(apparently I didn't listen too well either because SLOTS dont exatcly favor the player..lol)
Thank you Miss Henderson...you taught me well, although I still think it would have been fine for 1st graders to take a field trip to vegas...

my favorite thing about the first day of school, hmmm..........i know what coulda been my favorites.....too cool you crushers who got new clothes and shoes wow kdal 2 pairs even ....though i do remember my favorite was the lunch box and supplies as well the new art smock, and the new locker the school issued....and seeing who had the same lunch...guess i did have several favorites.....cool contest again...reminded me time to school shop i always forget , and my kids get real mad, they say they have to have new school clothes , socks, shoes, underwear, and "THE" coat.....i usually remember to get "the" backpack,binder and other supplies....no lunch box for these new aday kids. now mind you my children are clothed and fed. they just dont always get what they think they "have to have" 
they do get new shoes since their birthdays are towards end of summer.... i am soooo mean!!!

My favorite part about it is that I get my house back. I can sit at my computer and not have to worry about my kids.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL WAS WAITING TO SEE WHAT NUN U WERE GOING TO GET AND WAITING TO SEE IF I WAS GOING TO GET TO SIT NEXT TO THAT FANTASTIC LOOKING GUY WHO ALWAYS KNEW THE ANSWERS...........

Definitely our new school clothes! My mom would have taken us out shopping for school clothes sometime the week before (at JC Penney's, where she always took us - well, there and Sears.) And I really liked picking out all our new stuff - it always seemed like we got SO much, just 'cause we were getting it all at once! 'Cause during the rest of the year, I don't remember hardly ever going to buy any clothes, so we must have gotten pretty much all our clothes during the shop for school clothes trip... and everything was new and kinda stiff (!) and always had this same "new school clothes" smell! I swear, I can smell it right now, just remembering it. Then I had to choose on the first day which to wear. I could never decide. And I could never sleep the night before - too many butterflies in my stomach. Just like on Christmas Eve, when Santa still came to see us! Seemed like I was awake allllll night long, when I know I was fast asleep. But then there was one thing that I never did like at all -- and that was riding the bus. Hated the school bus. Too many of those ornery kids who thought it was fun to make other kids' lives miserable! Especially the real quiet ones who were never ornery - like me! Like me back THEN, I mean. I get ornery pretty easily these days! I always said I hated school, but I think I knew even back then, that I secretly really liked it - most of the time.
That was a good contest idea, y'all - brought back memories! (Still smelling that "new school clothes smell" right now!)

Before I started to hate school my favorite thing about the 1st day was wearing my new clothes & being in a higher grade.
