Thank you so much everyone for your time in chat tonight and listening to my heartbreak
to explain the sitution of my poor sweet doggie Furlik, he has something called Hurniated Disc Canine Disease. He was checked over by the vet today ( god bless our rural vets, to work on a Sunday just for us) Furlik has lost complete use of his hind legs, he is paralized. the Vet gave him a whopping injection of cortizone ( furlik was brave) and cortizone pills to take home. Although the cortizone will reduce the swelling and make Furlik somewhat comfortable but he still cannot walk at this point.
The vet said there is a 40% chance that the medication will reduce the swelling enough that Furlik may be able to start walking slowly in the morning. If there is even a hint of positve change in the morning then we are on our way to recovery. If the disease is too far gone and he cannot walk, then we must make a decision. The vet said only an orthopedic surgeon (specialist) can perform this surgery. Including the radioactive test ( similar to a MRI for humans) it was quoted that the total cost would be in the range of 8K - 10K.
I thank you all for your prayers and your kind words. You are truly a GREAT family.
Here is a link to a pic of my wonderful babies.. Furlik is the black/tan closet to the camera. Cookie, his daughter is nibbling on him wanting to play
