F - Flying squirrel - a medium-sized rodent, closely related to the squirrels. Despite the name, flying squirrels cannot actually fly, although they can be airborne for a remarkable length of time. Instead of flying, flying squirrels move through the air by gliding (normally between the trees), with the longest recorded glide of a flying squirrel being nearly 90 meters.

Giraffe - The skull of a male is continuously laying down bone. Therefore, as the giraffe ages, more bumps appear on his head. A giraffe's tongue can be up to 46 cm long, enabling it to pull leaves off trees. The spots on the coat are like a fingerprint - no two giraffes have the exact same pattern. Giraffes fall into deep sleep, with their necks on the ground, for only five minutes a day; the neck is held vertically otherwise.

K KAKAPO
The kakapo has short wings for it's large size and as it cannot fly, the kakapo mainly uses it's wings to help it balance and to support itself when hopping around in the trees. The kakapo also uses it's wings to help break it's fall when the kakapo leaps onto the ground from the lower branches of the trees.

L - Lilly Trotter (Jacana)
It seems the female is, well shall we say a naughty lady and not faithful to one mate. The breeding season falls between October and April. After her mate builds a nest out of floating vegetation, the female lays four eggs. Males are responsible for incubating the eggs for 25 days while the female moves on to mate with 2-3 other males. The chicks leave the nest within a couple of hours of hatching and are capable of feeding themselves. However, they will remain under their father's protection for three months.

N The Norwegian forest cat is from northern Europe, and has developed a very thick, fluffy coat to adapt to the cold weather there. They are very large cats that enjoy people's company.
One of my cats, Gambit, is the above, he is big and beautiful.
