[b]Most of you know me, Bob6188.., due to diminished computer access, I have not been participating here.. much to my dismay, however I do want to be sure to share with you, a composition written by our 14 year old (God Rest his soul), I feel it is a valuable message that everyone can appreciate in one way or another. It was written April 29, 2009 for his English Comp class..., only 2 months before his passing.
Have you ever heard the quote, "take some time to stop and smell the roses?" Well a lot of us in this busy day and age don't take time to do that. I know Im always thinking what I am going to do next, with the exception of school, which seems like it goes on for ages. But when Im having fun, it seems like the time is over before it even starts. I hate that, its so irritating. Sometimes, I wish it were the other way around.
I love baseball. Its so fun when you're running the bases knowing you can get tagged or thrown out at any second. It is so exhillarating and gives you such an adrenaline rush. Baseball is my favorite sport, but if you are just watching, it is so boring.. just watching pitchers throw the ball to people standing there with bats for three hours. It starts to make you wish you were at your sixty-three year old aunt's house listening to how she became interested in sewing.
School is not the most interesting place you be because you just work, and if you are not working, you feel like sleeping most of the time. There are a few exceptions, like yesterday, me made ice cream in chemistry class, and then got to eat it. The class I hate most is health, especially during block scheduling because we just sit there and take notes for one whole grueling hour that just seems to drag on. If you ask me, thest class of the day is physical education because we either play basketball, swim, or lift weights, and the time just seems to fly by.
Time is a precious thing; it should not be wasted. In the Bible, it says you live each day like its your last. As human beings, it is just about impossible not to look agead, but we should.. stop.., take a moment.., and realize what we are doing and where we are at, and take time to enjoy life. Life is too short, so why make it seem shorter than it already is? We never take time to look at the beauty of nature. We are always on computers, iPods, or television. I know I do these activities too, and if we all take a good look at ourselves, we are all guilty of wasting our time like that; we should get out there and have fun. That is what life is all about.
All in all, the point that I am trying to convey is that life is being lived too quickly. We should slow down and be glad we are here and try to make the most of each day. We should take time to stop and smell the roses because that might pay off in the future. You know what they say, "the future is now."
