Do you prefer using charcoal or a gas grill? Do you use wood chips for that smokey flavor? Do you have a secret sauce recipe? (We won't tell anyone, we promise!) Laughing Laughing Laughing

Please include any recipes you may want to share with the other Crushers!

Dear Crushes,i have one way of Barbque for busy mothers, on the go, i work 3rd shift for over 30yrs.and i didn't have the time to mess withgrill, however when i wanted to have BBq i would get a frying pan out, brown meat, then put in CROCK POT, with a littlewater on bottom to keep from sticking. then i would go to sleep. the kids would come home from school, and i would get upand then drain any remaining water, and add sauce, most of the time i put a little beerin sauce. the meat was always so tender and the meat on ribs would fall off the bones. but i was divorce, and raised 2 girls, so i made best of my time. afterdinner i would fix my lunch for that nite, my friend at work would have it for lunch, with a little potatoe salad. with mothers day coming, i think back to the different things i did to make life a little normal, for my girls, now that i am retired, its a different life. (.Happy Mothers Day) to all Mothers out there,ty josie46

Well my favorite food from the BBQ is anything that my hubby cooks lol. He is the cook of the house, and thats the advantage of having a chef for a husband lol. He does such a great job of cooking on the grill it makes it hard to pick just one, but i would have to go with the ribs he does. He will marinate the ribs for at least 12 hours in a sauce made from fresh garlic, soy sauce, honey, lemon zest, course sea salt, crushed black pepper, and a little bit of a spice he has called "Death Rain"(really spicey, he hasn't been able to find a hotter dry spice yet). After marinating them and the grill is hot and ready to go, he covers them in a honey/garlic sauce and slaps them on the grill. He says the secret is to keep adding more bbq sauce while cooking to get the full flavour. This served with corn on the cob done on the grill , and potatoes in a light oil with garlic course salt and pepper done on the grill in a bbq wok is a great dinner. Of course you need to include the ice cold beer for the cook to keep him happy at the grill, and enjoy.

MMMMM now im hungry lol, going to need to get him to fire up the bbq tonight.

Hope everyone has a awesome day,

Treehug

Hi,

Well I love to do chicken breast.

I marinate boneless, skinless chicken breast over night in italian dressing,

then next day when bbq is hot I wrap chicken in romaine lettuce leaves to

cook chicken so as to not let it burn or dry out. On the side I slice potatoes

and put them in foil with garlic, onions some salt and pepper then drizzle

some extra virgin olive oil over it (sometimes add some Hungarian Paprika)

Wrap potatos up in foil and cook on bbq for about 12 mins each side, its

the same time span for chicken....add a tossed salad and a baguette and

away we go......

Good Luck,

sisters Very Happy

Well, we don't often have BBQ's, but in summer we love to organise a day out in the mountains with all our friends and we take along everything for a barbeque. We normally use charcoal and a grill and our favourite items are normally Kebabs, sausages, peppers, potatoes and chicken wings and spare ribs. These are just normally all thrown onto the grill and left to cook through and as a side dish we normally take salads and cold pasta or rice dishes mixed with veg.

Well as an aussie bbq's are part of a staple diet lol, I love prawns just stick a couple of shelled king prawns on a skewer, melt some butter and add finley choppped garlic to the butter, put the prawn skewers on the hotplate/grill and brush with the garlic butter while they are cooking

also i seen this on a cooking show, havent tried it but i will soon
to make mini frittata's chop a mix of vegies and maybe ham or bacon, mushroom capsicup stc and fry on hotplate, beat some eggs, make small cups from aluminium foil line with baking paper, add vegies and stuff to eggs and pour into aluminum cups and place on hotplate for about 10 minutes or until cooked, turn out from cup and serve hot. Sounded and looked nice when i seen it and can be made with any ingredients and is different than most bbq food.

Depending what I have a taste for, I like a lot of different things. Steak, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. I do like BBQ'ing corn on the cob. Its *GREAT*!!! We always just rub on BBQ sause and I like using gas grills... its so much easier!!!

I use a gas grill. I like to take chicken and baste it with orange marmalade, honey, oleo, and fresh rosemary. The trick is not to burn it LOL. I take twice baked potatoes and put them in a pie pan and put them on the grill to heat and brown. Fresh corn on the cob makes a great side dish.

Sausages, onions, burgers, bacon - all slapped on to a charcoal fuelled barbie, and then incinerated tio withing an inch of the meals life (helped with a squirt or two of flammable liquid in the bad weather), and not forgetting to have a good supply of 'falling over liquid' (alcohol to you) to wash it all down.

I look forward to this years exploits Smile
