we have lots of traditions First of all we celebrate on Yule which varies beteen Dec 19th and Dec 22nd. My sister spneds the night with her fiancee, and after the kids get up, the 6 of us exchange our gifts. Then we have a big family gathering with aunts, uncles, cousins, nices, nephews, siblings, and gradparents and a HUGE brown sugar ham baked with cherries and pineapples and all the fixings. Usually the table is so loaed with food that everyone has to eatin the living room because there is no more room on the table for plates. Somethime during the celebration 'Santa' dros off some gifts for the kids, even though they never see him (or anyone else) bringing them in, extra gifts from 'Santa' just appear under the tree After everyone has gorged themselves on dinner and the over loaded dessert table (cheesecake, apple pie, cherry pie peach pie, blueberry pie, pumpkin bread, fudge and cookies galore) we exchange gifts with the extended family and the kids get to open their 'santa' gifts. As night falls, I tell the story of Persephone and Hades and why we have the seasons, Then we light the Yule candles (since we don't have a fireplace for a yule log) and wish a happy season to those who are getting ready to leave. After the family is gone, we end up playing with the kids' toys and eventually heading to bed exausted. Usually I am more wiped out than anyone else because I do ALL of the cooking and make everyting from scratch, but I love the whole day and would trade a second of it for all the money in the world!!!

This is something my family have done for a very long time
In fact my grandmother said she remembers doing this with her grandmother so I guess that makes it a true tradition
On Christmas eve everyone used to gather in one room (now it is done by phone and chat for those that can not be present)
We start by having a minute of silence then a prayer is said for all those that have been lost or are less fortunate than us
