I don't celebrate Christmas at all. I think it would be hypocritical of me to celebrate a christian holiday when I dont have a christian religion. I and my family celebrate Yule, a pagan holiday surroding the change of seasons from fall to winter and stemming for ancient rome, long before Chistianity was a known religon. Yule and Chistmas do have may traditons in common though, such as bringing a tree or other pine greens into the house (such as wreaths and swags, in Yule they are to be a rimnder that winter does not last forever and the green of spring will return), having large family and friend gatherings, giving gifts, and of course lots and lots of food, just to name a few.

When my sister, brother and I were kids, we would open presents on early Christmas morning. Now that we all are adults living in separate towns far away from each other (My mother's in Indy) and living our own lives, it's very hard getting together these days. But whenever we do have a family get together...it's Christmas Eve.

We always celebrate on Christmas Day. It was one of the few times we can get all 14 children and their spouses, children together. One of the few days that everyone has it off. So it begins early in the morning and by the afternoon, everyone if finally seated in the correct area. We would divide the family into groups. Example
GROUP ONE
Mom and Dad
The three oldest children and spouses
Aunts and Uncles
GROUP TWO
The eight middle aged children and spouses
cousins and neighbors (It varies each year)
GROUP THREE
The 3 youngest children and spouses (I was the youngest)
The 4 oldest grandchildren (My neices and nephews) and their spouses
GROUP FOUR
All unmarried grandkids
So after that day, there is no time to do it again.
Merry Christmas to all you small families out there.
