Male 100m Sprint: - Carl Lewis (born July 1, 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama) is an American athlete. He has won 10 Olympic medals, of which 9 are gold.
In 1996 - aged 36 - Lewis succeeded with remarkable ease, becoming only the third Olympian to win four consecutive titles in an individual event. If Lewis would have qualified for the 4 x 100 m team, he could have won his tenth Olympic gold, surpassing his countryman Ray Ewry as the most successful male Olympian.
Female 100m Sprint: - Gail Devers (born November 19, 1966 in Seattle) is an American athlete, twofold Olympic 100 m champion.
At the 1996 Summer Olympics Ottey and Devers finished in the same time and did not know who had won the race. Both were awarded the same time, but Devers was judged to have finished first and became the first woman to retain the Olympic 100 m title since Wyomia Tyus. With the 4 x 100 m relay team, Devers won her third Olympic medal.
