THE BIRTHDAY I REMEMBER IS
WHEN I WAS IN THE 2ND GRADE AND MY PARENTS TOLD ME WE WOULD
NOT HAVE CAKE FOR MY BIRTHDAY THAT YEAR BECAUSE WE HAD TO
GO TO MY GRANDMOTHERS... WELL YA KNOW I WAS A BIT UPSET
POUTED ALL THE WAY TO MY GRANDMOTHERS
BUT.. AFTER EATING DINNER AT MY GRANDMOTHERS, SHE WENT INTO
ANOTHER ROOM AND CAME BACK WITH A CAKE AND CANDLES
MY GRANDMOTHER WAS VERY SPEC. TO ME .. SO THIS IS ONE OF MY
FAVORITE MEMORYS. DID I MENTION SHE BAKED THE CAKE ON A WOOD STOVE ...

Hello Crushers!

The earliest birthday I remember was when I was 4 yrs. old.

I had a birthday party and was given a baton with streamers
on the end. I tried to twirl the baton and smacked me in the
face with and started to cry.

After weeks of practice of smacking me and throwing it out
of my hands, I finaly became quite the little baton twirler!

Gosh I don't recall any specific birthdays, but I do remember having to share the day with my brother who was 15 years older who's birthday was two days after mine. I was probably 8 or 9 before I got to have the day all for myself after he got married and moved away. There was always some sort of present for each of us. Mine would usually be a doll or a game. Think probably my most favorite birthday present ever was a Monopoly game.... Use to play that a lot and still do!

My best birthday was when I turned 8...I had a sleep over with my girl friends from school, and we went roller skating. I got a bike that year.

Wow crushers you've done us proud again..

I'm sorry for those of you that I brought back sad memories, but then I guess we all have them - and you have to experience sadder times to appreciate the better right?

I didn't post my experience because I wasn't sure about even having this contest lol it was just an idea a bit earlier this month but hey, here goes..

Actually it will have to be 2 (awkward me lol but I'm not entering - just for those that might be interested for a read)..

When I was (I'm not sure how old - 6 or 7 I think) .. I had some friends over and we partied in the garden with the central point being the climbing frame I had. Most of my friends were so fascinated by that - not because it was a climbing frame, but if you got on top - you could see the trains go by (we lived in a place that had a railway line running behind the garden which used to scare the cr*p out of me at night when they were doing maintenance because they would have sirens that sounded like the ones I'd heard on war films - like air-raid sirens!)

I think the earliest and best one I recall was probably my 18th - being in the UK - first time being able to drink legally lol, but my parents also treated me and a bunch of friends to a go-karting competition - I think they must have had a good year or something! It was really cool - I think I came pretty much last but I had such fun driving for the first time since I'd learned and passed my test (but hadn't driven or owned my own car since).... Then, we went off to a nightclub - and well there's no way I'd remember that lmaoo

It is strange many don't remember birthdays as we look forward to them every year. But same here. I remember once getting a doll as one of the members said they did that was as big as me. If you held her hand she would walk with you (with a lot of help and juggling her around.) I really didn't play with her much but thought she was beautiful.

The one present I remember the most was my Easy bake oven. Where you cook with a light bulb. My brother drove me nuts making me make him little cakes and stuff but it was yummy! He was a year younger than me and thought it was cool. I could be mistaken and got it for Christmas instead lol
I remember Christmases more than birthdays.

Where we could afford these gifts I don't know. I don't really remember having any parties though I am sure I had some with just family.

My memories in general (birthday or anytime) don't seem to go back as far as they should, but I do remember when I turned 12 or so, I invited 3 girls to go to the movies to celebrate my bday. We were on our way in the back of my mom;s station wagon and looking at the newspaper listings of current showing movies to decide which to see.

I can't remember which one I wanted to see... all I knew was that I DIDN"T want to see that dumb-sounding musical that just came out, "GREASE!" I thought, who would ever want to go to the movies to see a dumb musical?

But to my horror, the other girls were leaning toward picking THAT one! I couldn't believe they were serious!

I tried to use my veto power as the one and only birthday girl in the group, but they kept trying to convince me it would be really good and I would really like it blah blah blah, I probably wasn't listening, cuz I KNEW that wouldn't happen.

But then one of the girls (the clever one or the one who knew me best maybe!) came up with a good ides. She offered to give me a DOLLAR if we went to see it and I DIDN'T like it! She was that sure I would like it, she said.

A dollar sounded like a lot to me, I guess, and I bet I was thinking, heck, I can just TELL her I didn't like it even if I did, and she'd still have to give me the dollar, so how can I lose?

So we went to see this dumb musical I'd never heard of called "Grease" - ugh, who would name a movie that!

BUT when we came out, we were so excited and happy we'd picked the right movie to see, and we all loved it so much, and we were gonna come back and see it again and again and all that!

And I not only liked it, but I liked it so much I wouldn't even pretend NOT to have liked it, even for a WHOLE DOLLAR!

So she got to keep her dollar, and we all got to see a fantastic movie , and it turned out that about everyone else who ever saw it liked it as much as we did too!

Then we went home and had cake and ice cream or maybe we did that before the movie, I don't really remember any of that - I just assume that's what happened! All I really remember is that moment in the car when I gave in and said OK to "Grease" just so I could get that dollar, and then liking ti too much to be able to pretend I didn't and giving up the dollar for the GREAT musical movie, "GREASE"!

my best birthday had to be my 30th, when i was a kid there were no parties or anything like that for me so i made up for it when i got old enough. lol
my birthday falls on the june bank holiday in ireland and we had a whole weekender for my 30th it was the one of the best times of my life and it more than made up for no partys as a child.

getting presents and things like that don't really matter to me , but i remember that day that i turned 30 and looking at all of the people who i love in my life and feeling like i had won the lotto or something like that.
