My sister bought me some Chanel #5 even though (because?) I am allergic to perfume. She happened to love Chanel #5...so...she got some Chanel #5. Hehehehe. One of my best memories ever. She died a few years later way too young from leukemia at 22, but that memory cracks me up every time. It's just one of those things that makes you smile. So best present ever.

The strangest birthday present would be one I gave myself. I went to visit my brother and my niece was there with a box of kittens. A stray had babies at her house. I went home with 2 adorable kittens and told Hubby:
surprise !, you don't have to worry about shopping for my birthday next week. He was happy, he got out of shopping. That was 8 years ago and I still have both of my very special gifts. (One is laying here watching me type and the reason I thought of this as my answer)
Strangest gift I ever received, was a broken skateboard, im pretty sure it was a prank, and when I asked what happened to the board, they said I would receive the other half for next christmas. After that I got my real gift, a surfboard. Woohoo, stoked. I thought, good one guys!!!

PINK HEAD AND TWO BIG PINK BALLS. I DIDN'T WANT THE KIDS TO SEE ME

The strangest gift I ever gave was a silly poem I wrote explaining why there was no real gift which had been ordered but not delivered in time. They did eventually get their real gift.

The strangest gift that I received was a pair of booties to put on your feet when you get cold. I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. Cold it never is, but it was a very thoughtful gift.

I can't think of a strange gift I either gave or received, BUT the strange thing is my husband thinks it's the 5th and not the 4th and he always celebrates it on the 5th

The strangest gift that I ever received for Christmas was a new wedding ring. My first one my husband brought to a pawn shop and didn't gat back in time to get it out. The Christmas ring was more expensive with bigger beautiful diamonds. It didn't completely make up for losing the first one, but I was very happy to receive it!

I just realized you were talking about birthday gifts. When my grandchildren were young, they used to wrap up one of their toys to give to me; one year, I got a whole bunch of Legos. If they wanted them back, of course I would return them, but I have quite a few toys around here to play with...lol I love each and every one of them.
