In Winnipeg, we have a winter festival called Festival du Voyageur (which means Festival of the Traveller). It is the largest Winter Festival in Western Canada, celebrating the history of fur-trading and of the French/Metis culture.

They have around 1 month to do the sculptures. Some are done within 1 - 2 weeks, others take longer. Depends on the amount of detail and just how cold it is at the time. Not easy to do them when it's -40 and windy.
