A gunman has killed 10 people at a college in the town of Kauhajoki in Finland before shooting himself and later dying in hospital.

Media reports named the gunman as Matti Juhani Saari, 22, a trainee chef at the vocational college.

The suspect posted a video of himself on the internet last week firing a gun.

Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen said this was a "tragic day" for Finland.

Mr Vanhanen expressed condolences to the families of the victims and declared Wednesday a day of national mourning.

"We all as a society must be united so that events like these will not happen again," he said.

all the way 4 u i know exactly what you mean as the world is full of sick people....how anyone can do that in a school i will never understand and i still remember when the same happened in dunblane...it just makes you so sad and sickens you....my thoughts are with all those poor kids and their families

No matter where these things happen it's always difficult issue to deal with / accept or understand ...

Hi,

Marjo when I heard of this tragedy I immediatly thought of you hun, hoping that all is well with you and none of your family members were affected...

It's sensless to even wonder why some sociopaths do this as it would drive us crazy...There are too many sick people in this world...

My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this tragedy, even if we're oceans apart it does affect us all...

Dear Marjo ~

My long but hopefully not lost friend ~

My heart aches for everyone affected by this tragedy, as I know yours does.

It seems like only yesterday that we lost some beautiful young students and professors at a university in the USA.

This is a beautiful world, but it certainly holds a lot of horrid ugliness and suffering.

I offer prayers to my Living God for everyone touched by this Satan-inspired event.

TY all for your words.

It's been quite upsetting as some schools here in Helsinki have received threats too.
I thought of getting a new job, again, but we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow.
Maybe a car hits me and that's it - hasta la vista > enjoy my silence ...

No-one knows when we'll be in the end of our roads, but I'd like to walk my way without a fear. At the moment it's not easy.

My country used to be so safe - it still is, but this incident opened our eyes again that very bad stuff happens here too - we're not safe of evil people.

TY again - I so appriciate your replies to my topic which has nothing to do with gambling ...
Well - maybe a bit it does, anyway - life is a gamble ...
We take choices, make decicions, be at certain places at certain times and just HOPE all goes well ... as in the end no-one knows if we'll win or lose.
